Poetry Challenge Day 6 Topic: BLACK WOMEN

OK, so here's a little history.  Blue eyed soul, Wayne, is so enamored by black women.  It's not a slavery/white man type of fixation, either.  He really honors the foundation, form, frame and FEELING of black women.  LOL  So naturally, when it was his turn to create a topic, this is what he wanted to discuss.  It inspired me to write this piece.  Enjoy!

I Am Because He is

I be that boom-bip
Those full lips
Baby-carrying hips

Take a dip in the abyss of my emotion
An ocean of variety
I be four of the five women in Jesus' genealogy
We be beautiful.

I be that boom-bip
Those full lips
Baby-carrying hips

Stripped,
Whipped
...yet still standing
Draped,
Raped
...yet demanding
that you at least see
the He in
we are because He is.

I be that boom-bip
Those full lips
Baby-carrying hips

Sipping Giovanni's sangria
"We are more than our past
and less than our dreams"
Our Ave Maria
We could be a poet
or First Lady
Your lovers
and "Baby, Baby" babies...

I be that boom-bip
Those full lips
Baby-carrying hips

The boom is our God
The bip in Whom we trust

The lips drip wisdom
utter love, eschew lust

Must I talk about the hips?
bringing forth nation after nation?

We be Elation, not sadness
We be castration of the present madness

We be the BADNESS!

...The Lord's valued creation

Black as night, light as cognation
We be the gestation of the future
Stitching sutures between here and tomorrow
We be the lenders of style and grace
Never having to borrow
Unafraid of sorrow
We be part of the three stranded cornrow
across the scalp of the whole world.

Black women,
Black girls
Pearls grown under strain
God brought us joy for our pain
sunshine for our rain.

and again...

I be that boom-bip
Those full lips
Baby carrying hips

Take a dip in our story...
The script?

FLIPPED.
